At the end of 2014, ASCE held a music video contest for Student Chapters and Younger Members. The goal was to create a parody of a music video and changing the words to something related to Civil Engineering. The University of Nevada ASCE Student Chapter teamed up with our local Younger Member Group and created the winning video to Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off.” Our chapter won a $5,000 prize for being selected as the top video. To date, it’s almost received 13,000 views on YouTube, which completely blows my mind.
I love video editing and this was a lot of fun for me. I acted as the writer, director, and editor had a blast working with everyone. This vlog shows some deleted scenes and describes a little more about the process we went through while creating the music video. Many thanks to Kristin Kramer (our local “Taylor Swift”) and everyone else in the Truckee Meadows Branch who put up with me during the filming of the video.
If you want to see the full music video, I’ve posted it below. You can also check out the other winners by visiting ASCE’s YouTube Channel.
